Graphic design in practice.

Since 2019, I have worked in graphic design and media production. From the start, my responsibilities extended beyond design itself and, depending on the company, ranged from print, product photography and website maintenance to packaging, final artwork and production files.

This showed me how closely design is connected to product, marketing, sales and production in day-to-day business. That practical perspective still shapes how I work today.

Breuning GmbH

Graphic Designer / Media Designer in Marketing

11/2019 – 06/2024 Pforzheim

International B2B Marketing

Design for product, sales and communication.

For several years at Breuning, I handled a range of design and marketing tasks for jewellers and international sales partners.

My day-to-day work ranged from print and point-of-sale materials to product photography, catalogues and newsletters, as well as social media, website maintenance and international trade fairs.

01 / Design

From flyers to complete point-of-sale displays.

For jewellers and sales partners, I created advertisements, brochures, flyers, posters, banners, pavement signs, flags, window graphics and vehicle graphics.

02 / Product

Product photography for the online shop, sales and communication.

New wedding ring and jewellery collections were photographed in-house and then prepared for the online shop, sales, social media and print media.

This included classic product shots on a white background as well as staged imagery for brand communication.

03 / B2B

Design for international sales partners.

Breuning worked internationally with jewellers and sales partners. In my role, I coordinated with contacts in Scandinavian markets on advertisements, promotions and individual requirements.

This included product selection, format specifications, corrections, final file delivery and coordination with sales and external publications.

Website maintenance moved in-house and became part of my role.

As website updates were increasingly handled internally, I taught myself TYPO3 and the available editing tools.

I was then able to maintain website content, build pages with new content and implement seasonal and communication-related updates independently.

05 / Communication

Regular B2B communication for jewellers and sales partners.

Newsletters were a regular part of our communication with jewellers. We prepared and sent news, promotions, product information and other sales-relevant content on a recurring basis.

This was complemented by social media content, product catalogues, price lists and materials that sales partners could use in their own communication.

06 / Trade fairs

Trade fair design with a direct connection to sales and customers.

For international trade fairs, I created large-format wall graphics, communication materials and production-ready files. I was also involved on site in setup and presentation.

This gave me direct insight into how design, sales and product presentation work together. My role also included conversations with customers, press contacts and sales partners.

What shaped my role

I had to figure out a lot for myself.

Especially at the beginning, there was little formal onboarding. I therefore had to learn production processes, sales channels and the requirements of different markets step by step.

This shaped how I work: researching, asking questions, understanding how things connect and taking responsibility when no ready-made process exists.

01 Independent

Learn new systems, processes and tasks independently.

02 Collaboration

Work with marketing, sales, production, management and external partners.

03 Thinking ahead

Go beyond completing tasks by contributing my own ideas and practical solutions when needed.

Precision & Production

Design that has to work in production.

At EURES, my focus shifted towards product packaging, technical requirements and precise execution for production.

Packaging had to work visually while reliably meeting specific customer and manufacturer requirements. Final artwork, variants, image retouching, mock-ups and production-ready files therefore became a central part of my work.

Workflow at EURES

From requirements to a production-ready file.

Packaging was primarily about precision and process: understanding requirements, executing designs accurately, visualising results and preparing reliable production files.

  1. 01
    Understand requirements

Review customer and manufacturer specifications and assess technical requirements accurately.

  2. 02
    Execute the design

Develop new layouts or adapt existing designs precisely to formats, variants and specifications.

  3. 03
    Visualise the result

Retouch images and create mock-ups and 3D visualisations so the design and product can be evaluated before production.

  4. 04
    Prepare for production

Final artwork, final checks and delivery of clean production-ready files.
